Buffalo Bulls Game Notes

“Buffalo comes in to this season with high expectations. They finished with the best overall record in the MAC last season and have won six of their last seven games. Once again they’ll most likely use their ground attack as much as possible. And, with Jaret Patterson in the backfield, why not?! Patterson averaged nearly six yards per carry last season en route to 1799 yards and 19 touchdowns. He rushed for over 140 yards in each of the last six games and had a MASSIVE day against Bowling Green, rushing for 298 yards and six touchdowns against the Falcons. Look for him to get the bulk of the carries again this season and punish defenses with his combination of speed and power.”

Northern Illinois Huskies Game Notes

Northern Illinois junior RB Erin Collins was named starter on the team’s initial depth chart. Collins (6’0/214) gets the starting nod over promising freshmen Harrison Waylee and Rondarius Gregory. The former NC State commit transferred in as a JUCO in order to help fill the void left by departed grad transfer RB Tre Harbison who left for Charlotte. Unlike many other initial depth charts there is no “or” designation, with Collins serving as the unquestioned starter for NIU’s opener this Wednesday against Buffalo. Expect a heavy dose of carries for the talented JUCO transfer as NIU tries to improve upon their pedestrian 3.7 YPC from last season.

Buffalo vs. Northern Illinois Betting Prediction

The over is 5-1 in the Bulls’ last six games overall, is 5-1 in their last six games as a favorite and is 13-6 in their last 19 games as a road favorite. On the other side, the over is 6-1 in the Huskies’ last seven games overall, is 5-1 in their last six games played in the month of November and has cashed in six of their last seven conference games.
