One day after suffering the biggest loss in school history (a 58-0 pounding vs. Clemson), Miami fired Golden and replaced him with tight ends coach and run-game coordinator Larry Scott. With Scott holding only the interim head coach title, who will be the man to replace Golden fulltime next season?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the person with the best odds to replace Golden is Butch Davis, who is the favorite at +175. Davis last coached at North Carolina, going 28-23 in four seasons with the Tar Heels. He also coached at Miami from 1995 through 2000, going 51-20 with the Hurricanes before leaving the program to coach the NFL’s Cleveland Browns.
Mario Cristobal, the current offensive line coach at the University of Alabama, has the next best odds to become Miami’s head coach in 2016 at +300. He was a four-year letterman at Miami between 1989-1992, which included being a member of the Hurricanes’ 1989 and 1991 national championship teams.
Below is a complete list of odds for which person will replace Golden at Miami for the 2016 season.
