BYU Cougars Game Notes
BYU junior QB Zach Wilson completed 18-of-32 passes for 224 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception in Saturday’s 41-10 win over Western Kentucky. No, Halloween night was not Wilson’s most thorough or consistent performance. But it did not have to be. For as many yards as he left on the field at times, particularly in the second half, Wilson still pulled some magic off in the first half to get out to a massive lead. He has a number of throws down the field, some from moving platforms, that fully displayed how outrageous his arm talent is compared to the average college quarterback. In addition, Wilson rushed a handful of times and found the end zone on one of those carries. BYU remain undefeated with a game against Boise State up next.
Boise State Broncos Game Notes
Boise State sophomore QB Hank Bachmeier’s status for Friday’s game vs. BYU has yet to be determined due to an undisclosed injury. Bachmeier (6’1/202) was held out of last weekend’s win over Air Force due to injury, with USC transfer Jack Sears filling the resulting void. And Sears was outstanding, as he completed 17-of-20 passes for 280 yards and three touchdowns. Bachmeier continues to work his way back to full strength, but it’s worth noting that on Monday HC Bryan Harsin did not commit to the sophomore regaining his job once healthy. “We’ll see,” Harsin said when asked if Bachmeier would be the starter once cleared to play. “Jack is still continuing his preparation this week and Hank obviously has to continue to keep developing. We’ve only played two games. … As far as these guys competing, at the end of the day it comes down to that week of practice and how guys are operating.”
