BYU Cougars Game Notes
BYU junior QB Zach Wilson completed 10-of-16 passes for 212 yards and four touchdowns in a 66-14 victory over North Alabama on Saturday. Heisman candidate Wilson (6’3/210) posted his lowest passing total of the season since BYU essentially scored at-will on the overmatched North Alabama Lions, allowing Wilson to take an early powder and let Baylor Romney get some live reps in. He has earned the early-exit, especially considering the junior signal caller is coming off a 55-17 evisceration of 21st ranked Boise State in his previous game. The talented Draper, UT native sports a tidy 26-to-2 touchdown-to-interception ratio to go with eight rushing touchdowns. Undefeated BYU has one game left on their regular season schedule against San Diego State in Provo.
Coastal Carolina Chanticleers Game Notes
Coastal Carolina redshirt freshman QB Grayson McCall completed 11-of-18 passes for 154 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Saturday’s 49-14 win over Texas State. He also ran for 25 yards on four carries. McCall (6’3/195) is having a season of hypnotizing efficiency in his first year at the helm of Coastal’s attack. He’s thrown for 1,747 yards and a 20/1 TD/INT ratio on 67-percent completions during the Chanticleers’ 9-0 start, adding 365 yards and four TD on the ground. McCall hasn’t thrown an interception since Oct. 3 against Arkansas State. In conjunction with a killer rushing attack, the Chants have scored 40 or more points four times this season. That offense will need to bring it next Saturday with Coastal’s undefeated season on the line against BYU.
BYU vs. Coastal Carolina Betting Prediction
This is too many points to hand a 9-0 home team playing its best football in program history. The Chanticleers are 6-0-1 against the spread in their last seven games overall, are 5-0 against the number in their last five games as an underdog and are 9-1-1 against the number in their last 11 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game. For as great as BYU has been this season, the Cougars are just 1-5 against the number in their last six games played in the month of December. This one should come down to the final possession.
