BYU Game Notes
BYU wide receiver Chase Roberts had a big game against Baylor on Saturday night, hauling in 8 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown. The Cougars might need him to step up again on Saturday. Two of BYU’s top receivers (Parker Nacua and Gunner Romney) missed the Baylor game with injuries. It’s not currently known whether they’ll be good to go for the Cougars on Saturday.
It’s worth noting that BYU quarterback Jaren Hall is averaging over 250 passing yards per game with Romney missing both contests and Nacua only catching one pass against South Florida.
BYU’s defense is 21st in the FBS (out of 131 schools) in passing yards allowed per game. The Cougars are also in the top 25 of both offensive yards per play and yards per play allowed.
Oregon Ducks Game Notes
It’s been a tale of two games for Oregon QB Bo Nix. Against defending national champion Georgia he looked lost as he threw for a paltry 173 yards and two interceptions as the Ducks got obliterated 49-3. Last week he looked like a future pro against Eastern Washington, tallying 277 passing yards and 5 touchdowns.
Bo Nix is likely somewhere in the middle of those two performances. He transferred to Oregon after playing three unimpressive years with Auburn. His best year was his freshman year in 2019 when he won the SEC Freshman of the Year Award. But his career has been on the decline ever since. The former 4-star recruit transferred to Oregon in an attempt to save his career, but it might be too late.

BYU vs. Oregon Betting Prediction
I think BYU will have a significant coaching advantage in this game. Cougars head man Kalani Sitake is in his 7th year at the helm in Provo and he’s 23-4 since the beginning of 2020.
Saturday will be Oregon head coach Dan Lanning’s third game as a head coach at any level and it’s a tough spot to be in, as his team is favored against a tough team. I don’t trust Bo Nix at all in this game, and I believe in the BYU infrastructure. I think the Cougars are tougher than the Ducks and that shows on the field on Saturday afternoon.
