BYU redshirt sophomore QB Baylor Romney completed 20-of-25 passes for 305 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Saturday’s 35-27 win against South Florida. Romney (6’2″/195) was getting the starting nod with QB Jaren Hall getting knocked out of last week’s game against Arizona State on the final drive due to an injury to his midsection. Romney also rushed four times for 14 yards. It’s uncertain if Hall will be ready to go next week on Friday at Utah State, but it’s a quick turnaround. If Hall cannot go, it will be Romney getting the start again.
Utah State Aggies Game Notes
Utah State redshirt junior QB Logan Bonner completes 11-of-25 passes for 173 yards and two interceptions in a 27-3 loss to Boise State on Saturday. Bonner (6’1/230) continues to struggle keeping the ball safe, as this was his fourth straight game with an interception for the Aggies.The running game was there for Bonner, amassing 235 yards on the ground, but the inability to complete passes and keep the ball safe ended up costing them in the end. The Aggies hope to right the ship as they take on BYU Friday night.
BYU vs. Utah State Betting Prediction
The over is 5-1 in the last six meetings between these two teams and is 5-2-1 in the Cougars’ last eight road games. The over is also 8-3 in BYU’s last 11 games versus Mountain West Conference opponents and is 5-1 in their last six games played on Friday.
