Arbuckle the focus of Cure Bowl
Georgia State hopes its passing attack will be enough to get past San Jose State when the two meet in the Autonation Cure Bowl today.
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, San Jose State is a very slim favorite in this game, as the Spartans are getting odds of -1 point against Georgia State. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 55 points. These two meet today at 7PM ET on the CBS Sports Network. They will play in the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, FL.
San Jose State (5-7, 7-5 ATS) is a surprise bowl participant despite having a losing record. The Spartans face a Georgia State (6-6, 8-3-1 ATS) that comes into today with one of the top passing attaches in the nation. The Panthers rank eighth nationally in passing, averaging 346.6 yards per game. Leading that charge is quarterback Nick Arbuckle, who has thrown for 4,160 yards and 26 touchdowns with 11 interceptions. In today’s bowl game, Arbuckle has been given an over/under of 328.5 passing yards.
That number for Arbuckle is quite lofty when you consider San Jose State actually ranks second nationally in pass defense. The Spartans have allowed just 153.6 passing yards per game this season. Granted, part of that is because they were horrible against the run (215.6 ypg), but it is still something to consider. Arbuckle has thrown for over 300 yards in seven straight games and he has at least 329 yards in seven games for Georgia State this season.
