Tigers take care of the Bearcats
Memphis won its sixth straight game with last week’s 34-24 win over Cincinnati at home. The Tigers come into this game at 11-1 overall, 7-1 in the AAC, 8-4 against the spread and 8-4 with the over.
The Memphis offense has been tough for anyone in the AAC to stop this year. The Tigers are averaging 41.5 points and 483.5 yards per game. Defensively, Memphis has been pretty competitive as well. The Tigers are giving up just 24.4 points and 365.5 yards per outing. Brady White is leading the Memphis offense this year with 3,307 passing yards and 32 touchdowns. Kenneth Gainwell is the team’s top rusher with 1,381 yards and 12 touchdowns, while Damonte Coxie is the top receiver with 59 catches for 979 yards and nine touchdowns.
Cincy ends win streak
Cincinnati suffered a 34-24 loss at Memphis last weekend in a game that didn’t mean much for the Bearcats outside of rankings. It did put an end to a 9-game win streak for Cincy. However, they are still 10-2 on the year, 7-1 in the AAC, 7-5 against the spread and 9-3 with the under.
The Bearcats have been led by their defense for most of the season, allowing just 21.1 points and 370.8 yards per game. Darrick Forrest is leading the defense with 92 tackles and three interceptions. The Cincy offense hasn’t been very overwhelming, averaging 29.4 points and 379.3 yards per outing. Desmond Ridder has thrown for 1,836 yards and 17 touchdowns this year to lead the team while also rushing for 432 yards and a score. Michael Warren II has rushed for 1,061 yards and 12 touchdowns, while Alec Pierce has 29 catches for 534 yards and two touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Memphis
Memphis is 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 home games and 11-4 ATS in their last 15 conference games.
Cincinnati
The Bearcats are just 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 road games and 7-17 ATS in their last 24 against a winning team.
Prediction:
Memphis has won four straight against Cincinnati, with three of the four wins coming by double figures. The Tigers have been able to score at will on Cincy. I think that will be the case again today at home. The Tigers were able to see what worked against this defense last week and can make adjustments to be even more efficient offensively. Cincinnati isn’t likely to be able to make the adjustments to improve its offense because the Bearcats just don’t have the playmakers that Memphis does. Things could get out of hand quickly if Memphis starts fast, as Cincinnati has to be coming into this game with a lot of doubt as is.
