Cincinnati Bearcats Game Notes
Cincinnati redshirt junior QB Desmond Ridder completed 24-of-31 passes for 327 yards and three touchdowns while rushing eight times for 75 yards and a touchdown in Friday’s 55-17 win over East Carolina. Ridder has been on fire for most of this year, but he may have just had his best passing performance of the season. His 327 yards were a season-high and marked the first time he cleared three bills in a game this season. What impressed most, though, is how consistent Ridder was with his ball placement. Accuracy has been somewhat of an issue for Ridder at times, but he was throwing dimes at every level against ECU, nailing downfield passes just the same as he was setting up yards-after-catch underneath. Considering Ridder also did that while doing his usual on the ground, the ECU game was about as close to “peak” Ridder as we are going to see. Cincinnati remain undefeated with UCF up next.
UCF Knights Game Notes
UCF sophomore QB Dillon Gabriel completed 12-of-22 passes for 268 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday’s 38-13 win over Temple. Sure, Gabriel barely completed half of his passes, but that matters a whole lot less considering he repeatedly hit huge passes down the field. Such is the nature of the UCF offense, of course, and Gabriel delivered once again. Gabriel earned completions of 30 yards, 50 yards, and 70 yards throughout the night, constantly beating down the Temple defense with throws over the top. Believe it or not, his 70-yarder did not score, though he did immediately toss a touchdown on the following play. UCF will aim to get their sixth win of the year against a tough Cincinnati squad next week.
Cincinnati vs. UCF Betting Prediction
The favorite is 4-1 against the spread in the last five meetings between these two teams while Cincinnati has covered the spread in four straight conference games. The Bearcats are also 5-0 against the number in their last five games versus an opponent with a winning record, are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games overall and have cashed five tickets in their last five games coming off a win of more than 20 points. Meanwhile, the Knights are just 1-5 against the spread in their last six games overall, are 1-6 against the number in their last seven home games and are 1-5 at the betting window in their last six games overall.
