Clemson Tigers Game Notes
Clemson junior QB Trevor Lawrence (COVID-19) is expected to return to the field Saturday against Florida State. Clemson’s game-week depth chart for FSU featured Lawrence installed in his familiar QB1 post. Lawrence ended up missing two games with his positive diagnosis, a loss to Notre Dame and a win over Boston College. Five-star freshman QB DJ Uiagalelei, who filled in for Lawrence, will return to his backup post. Clemson is currently priced as 34.5-point road favorites over the reeling Seminoles.
Florida State Seminoles Game Notes
Florida State freshman QB Chubba Purdy has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to issues with the collarbone that he broke earlier this season. Purdy (6’2/212) recently underwent a third surgical procedure on his collarbone, which he originally broke during preseason camp. The freshman quarterback’s first surgery was in August, and then a second procedure was required to “clean” things up. Purdy has now gone under the knife for a third time, and with that his first season in Tallahassee has come to a close. With Jordan Travis also having struggled to stay healthy and James Blackman entering the transfer portal, Florida State is in a bad spot depth-wise heading into Saturday’s game against Clemson.
Clemson vs. Florida State Betting Prediction
The Tigers are 11-4 against the spread in their last 15 games versus the Seminoles and are 4-1 against the number in their last five trips to Tallahassee. They’re also 11-3 against the number in their last 14 games as a road favorite, are 12-4 against the spread in their last 16 road games and are 14-6 ATS in their last 20 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game. On the other side, the Seminoles are 2-5 against the spread in their last seven conference games, are 7-18-1 ATS in their last 28 games overall and have failed to cover in six of their last eight games as underdogs.
