According to the latest oddsmakers, Clemson is the clear favorite in this game, as the Tigers are getting odds of -26.5 points against UNC. UNC in a skid
After winning its first two games of the new Mack Brown era, the Tar Heels have since lost their last two games, including a 34-31 loss to Appalachian State at home last weekend. UNC is now 2-2 on the year, 1-0 in the ACC, 2-2 against the spread and 2-2 with the over/under total.
North Carolina is giving up 25.8 points and 394.8 yards per game on defense this year while the offense is putting up 25.3 points and 418.5 yards per contest. Sam Howell is leading the team with 1,024 passing yards and nine touchdowns while Javonte Williams is leading the ground attack with 299 yards and a score. Dyami Brown is the leading receiver with 15 catches for 284 yards and three touchdowns. Myles Wolfork is leading the defense with 24 tackles and three interceptions.
Clemson looking true to form
Clemson is coming off a 52-10 win over Charlotte at home last week to improve to 4-0 on the season. The Tigers are 1-0 in the ACC, 3-1 against the spread and 2-2 with the over/under total.
The Tigers have been really impressive on both sides of the ball. The defense is giving up just 10 points and 246.5 yards per game while the offense is putting up 42.3 points and 524.8 yards per outing. Trevor Lawrence has thrown for 925 yards and seven touchdowns with five interceptions. Tee Higgins is the leading receiver with 16 catches for 376 yards and two touchdowns, while Travis Etienne is the leading rusher with 395 yards and four scores. The defense is being led by Isaiah Simmons, who has 33 tackles with two sacks.
College Football Betting Trends
North Carolina
The Tar Heels are 7-1-1 with the over in their last seven conference games and 5-1 with the over in their last six games in September.
Clemson
The Tigers are 4-1 with the under in their last five conference games and 9-4 with the under in their last 13 games following a cover.
Prediction:
These two have hit the over in three straight and in five of their last six meetings. Clemson hasn’t had a problem scoring on anyone and has put up at least 45 points in its last three games against the Tar Heels. Clemson has put up at least 41 in all three games against non-ranked opponents and I don’t see UNC being able to slow down that train. The question is, can UNC score enough to hit the over? Given the Heels were held to just 18 points by Wake Forest, my answer is no. Clemson is still dominant on defense and giving up just 10 points per outing. That is why I think the under hits here.
