Klubnik throws four touchdowns vs. SMU
Cade Klubnik completed 24 of 41 passes for 262 yards and four touchdowns during Saturday’s 34-31 victory over Southern Methodist. He also had 14 rushes for 21 yards. Klubnik accounted for all four of the Tiger’s touchdowns leading Clemson to their first Playoff birth since 2020. Klubnik will have at least one more game before things are said and done as Clemson will face off with Texas on 12/21 in the first round of the Playoff.
Ewers throws for 358 yards vs. UGA
Quinn Ewers was 27-for-46 passing for 358 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions during Saturday’s 22-19 overtime loss against Georgia. He also had six rushes for -27 yards. Georgia remains seemingly the lone thorn in Texas’ side, as the Longhorns once again fell to the Bulldogs in 2024. Ewers’ 358 passing yards were a season-high, but he struggled with ball security (two interceptions) and had one of his least efficient days through the air (58.7 percent completion). On the doorstep of a first-round bye, Texas now must host Clemson in round one of the College Football Playoff.

Clemson vs. Texas Prediction
Take Texas. Public bettors seem to like Clemson, but who the hell have the Tigers played this season? What’s impressive about the ACC title winner? They beat SMU? Who cares? SMU is the Indiana of the ACC. All flash, no substance.
I worry about Texas’ offense. I think Ewers runs hot and cold. I think Arch Manning should be the full-time starter. That said, Texas’ defense is legit. And while Klubnik is coming off an impressive performance in the ACC title game, it doesn’t take much for him to crap himself. Think Georgia the first week of the season. That’s what I see today in Austin, TX. If Clemson scores more 13, I’ll be shocked.
Clemson vs. Texas Prediction: Texas Longhorns -13
