Clemson vs. Virginia Tech ACC Title Game Spread Continues to Move 12/3/16

Line Moves Again in ACC Title Game

The line in the ACC Championship Game between Clemson and Virginia Tech continues to move ahead of tonight’s 8:00PM ET kickoff.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Tigers are now a 10.5-point favorite versus the Hokies for tonight’s ACC title game. The point spread originally opened at Clemson -8.5 but quickly moved to double digits at 10, but within the last 24 hours the number has moved a half point and off a key number.

Public bettors are currently backing Clemson, although not enough to push the line that high. The Tigers are receiving 58% backing from public bettors, which usually isn’t enough to signal a line change as great as this one. Thus, there seemingly is some sharp bettors willing to lay the points on a Tigers team with everything to play for tonight when it comes to the college football playoff.

The total, meanwhile, also continues to move. After opening as low as 55.5 at some online sports books, the number has steadily gone up, first to 56, then to 57.5, then to 58 and now to 59. While the under is 5-1 in the last six meetings between these two teams, the over is 6-2 in the Hokies’ last eight games in December and has cashed in four of the Tigers’ last five games overall.

Some other trends to consider for tonight’s game: Clemson is 7-0 against the spread in its last seven neutral site games, is 5-0 at the betting window in its last five games in December and is 6-1 ATS in its last seven games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in its previous game. On the other side, VA Tech is just 1-4 against the spread in its last five neutral site games and is 1-4 against the number in its last five games coming off a win.
