With a win last week against Florida State, Clemson is a perfect 9-0 on the season but is just 5-4 against the spread. On the other side, Syracuse is 3-6 straight up but 5-4 at the betting window.
The Pick
Syracuse will likely be without quarterback Eric Dungey, which is unfortunate given how Clemson has one of the top defenses in the nation. But this game feels a little like the September 26 contest that ‘Cuse played against LSU. In that game, the Tigers had several opportunities to run away from the Orange and couldn’t. LSU still won 34-24, but came nowhere close covering as a 23.5-point road favorite. Now it’s Clemson’s turn to visit the Carrier Dome, where Syracuse is 4-1 against the spread this season. With the Tigers coming off their biggest game of the season in that win over FSU, this is a prime letdown spot for a team that is No. 1 in the college football playoff rankings.
