The Odds

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Mybookie.ag, the Wolverines are 13-point road favorites versus the Hoosiers after opening as an 11.5-point favorite. As for the total, it opened at 57.5 before dropping to 56.

The Records

Michigan is now 7-2 on the year, with its only losses coming against Utah and Michigan State. The Wolverines are also 5-4 against the spread, while the Hoosiers are 4-5 ATS and 4-5 straight up this season.

The Pick

Everyone keeps writing and talking about how “close” Indiana has been to pulling off a major upset. In fact, in games against Michigan State and Iowa, we too have discussed that Indiana is good enough to hang with the big boys. So bettors see the 13 points and are immediately drawn to the Hoosiers based on the narrative that they held strong against Ohio State, MSU and Iowa before wilting in the second half. But therein lies the problem: Indiana doesn’t know how to finish games. Yes, Nate Sudfeld gives them a shot every week. But outside of the OSU game, Indiana failed to cover versus Michigan State (+14.5) and Iowa (+7) despite playing close early. The last time Michigan hit the road it nearly lost to Minnesota. But the Wolverines have a top 5 defense in terms of defensive efficiency ratings and should keep Sudfeld in check. Assuming Jake Rudock can build off his 337-yard, three-touchdown performance versus Rutgers, the Wolverines should create enough distance today against the Hoosiers to cover the number.
