Navy enters play with a 6-1 record and is 5-2 against the spread, while Memphis is a perfect 8-0 straight up and 4-3 at the betting window. The Midshipmen are 1-1 ATS on the road this year while the Tigers are 2-2 ATS at home.
The Pick
This one should be tight throughout. Navy’s triple-option can give opponents fits and quarterback Keenan Reynolds is on the verge of breaking former Wisconsin running back Montee Ball’s NCAA record for career rushing touchdowns at 77. The Tigers are explosively offensively but Reynolds and the Midshipmen offense can keep Memphis off the field for long stretches. The Tigers also have a habit of starting slow (as evidence of Tulane jumping out to a 13-0 lead last week before wilting) and they could get caught looking ahead to Houston next week (even though Navy is a tough opponent in its own right).
