Alabama Returns to Practice Field
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) – Nick Saban and Alabama’s players have wrapped up the awards circuit and gotten back to work.
The second-ranked Crimson Tide began practicing for the BCS championship game with No. 1 LSU on Monday in its indoors facility. Coach Nick Saban says there’s no reason to brave the wind and cold when you’re playing in the Louisiana Superdome.

It was also the first time the team had seen offensive coordinator Jim McElwain since he took Colorado State’s head coaching job.
Players said they gave him an ovation in the team meeting. Saban says he’s in no big rush to fill the vacancy and “our focus is on this game right now.”
He and Trent Richardson are also back from the Heisman Trophy ceremony, where the Doak Walker Award winner finished third.
