College Football Odds 4/18/16 – Ohio State gets 100,000 at spring game

Buckeyes get 100K for Spring Game

Ohio State may not have made the College Football Playoffs last season, but it clearly hasn’t impacted the team’s fan support for the 2016 season.

The Buckeyes held their annual Spring Game on Saturday and an eye-popping 100,189 people jammed into the Horseshoe to watch all the action.

“Oh, man, that was crazy,” quarterback J.T. Barrett told ESPN after the game. “I appreciate our fan base. It’s crazy that many people would come to watch a practice — a very basic practice at that. It just shows the love that we get from our fans, the best fans in the land, and I know, as an Ohio State football player, we definitely appreciate that.”

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Ohio State is currently one of four favorites to win the national championship next season. The Buckeyes join Alabama, Clemson and Michigan as teams with 8/1 odds to win the title.

The Buckeyes are coming off a 12-1 season in 2015 in which their lone loss was at home to Michigan State and that kept them out of the playoffs after winning it all the season prior. The team loses a number of key players like Joey Bosa, Ezekiel Elliott and Braxton Miller, but will be led in 2016 by Barrett. Barrett led OSU to the playoffs in 2014 before suffering an injury and then took over late in the 2015 season. He has thrown for over 3,500 yards and 45 touchdowns in two seasons while rushing for over 1,500 yards and 22 scores. He currently has 14/1 odds to win the 2016 Heisman Trophy.
