The Odds
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Mybookie.ag, the Cardinal is a 9-point home favorite versus the Ducks after opening as a 9-point favorite. As for the total, it opened at 69 and has risen slightly to 69.5.
The Records
The Ducks are 6-3 overall and 5-4 against the spread, while the Cardinal is 8-1 straight up and 7-2 at the betting window. Stanford’s lone loss came all the way back in Week 1 when it lost at Northwestern.
The Pick
It’s tempting to take an Oregon team coming off three straight wins in a double-digit underdog role tonight against a team that has ruined its season in the past. But the Ducks’ defense is so bad. They’re allowing nearly 500 yards of total offense per game and 37.2 points per contest in 2015. They can’t stop the run (170.4) and are even worse against the pass (126.0), which isn’t a good sign for tonight’s game against a balanced Stanford squad. Granted, the Ducks can score at will and are averaging 42.2 points per game this season. But the Cardinal has the ability to rack up 40-plus points as well and unlike the Ducks, has the ability to stop opponents from time to time. Lay the points, as attempting as it is to back Oregon in a dog role.
