Battle Line Rivalry should produce fireworks
Missouri has struggled mightily in its first season under Barry Odom. But will the Tigers find a silver lining in this afternoon’s finale vs. Arkansas?
In short, handicappers have their doubts. Online sports book BetDSI opened the Razorbacks as 8.5-point favorites over MU. The over/under is set at 71.5.
Despite getting mauled by Tennessee last Saturday, Mizzou did manage to pile up 740 yards of total offense at Neyland Stadium. Freshman Damarea Crockett accounted for 225 of those on the ground. That broke Brad Smith’s freshman rushing record for a single game.
Earlier this week, however, Crockett was suspended following his arrest for suspiscion of marijuana possession. Junior Ish Witter and sophomore Nate Strong will get the bulk of the carries with Crockett out. A timeshare situation may not be disastrous, though, as the Hogs surrender nearly 500 yards per contest and a league-worst 38.6 points in SEC competition.

Thanks to a pair of sketchy losses against Auburn and LSU Arkansas doesn’t have a shot at a division title. Yet the visiting school could improve its bowl position with a dominant outing shortly. We expect Bret Bielema’s crew to respond accordingly.
