Washington State comes into this weekend with a 3-0 record with wins over Montana State, Boise State and Oregon State. The Cougars have hit the over in two of three games thanks to their offense that is averaging 43.3 points per game. In typical Mike Leach-fashion the offense is heavy on the pass, averaging 408.3 yards through the air. Luke Falk has thrown for 900 yards and nine touchdowns to lead the team while three different receivers have over 200 yards. This season, the Washington State defense is also playing quite well, allowing just 22.3 points and 299.3 yards per game. The Cougars have been especially good against the pass, allowing only 154.7 yards per game.
Nevada is off to an 0-3 start with losses to Northwestern, Toledo and Idaho State. The Wolf Pack have also hit the under in all three games thanks mostly to its offense, which is producing just 24 points and 383.3 yards per game. Leading rusher Jaxson Kincaide is dealing with a head injury that has him questionable to play on Saturday. He has 245 yards on 42 carries. Ty Gangi has thrown for 476 yards and four touchdowns, but he has been replaced by Kaymen Cureton. Cureton has thrown for 205 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, Nevada is allowing 32.7 points and 439 yards per game this season, including 284.3 passing yards per game.
Bet on Nevada vs. Washington State
Washington State won’t have problems moving the ball on offense in this one. The Wolf Pack struggle against the pass and now face one of the best passing attacks in the country. However, I see the Cougars struggling to hit the over in this one because of Nevada’s inability to contribute to the score. Nevada could be without its best player in Kincaide and the passing game doesn’t have enough to drive consistently against this Washington State defensively, especially with a new starting quarterback.
