Will No. 18 Notre Dame be able to put on another high-scoring contest when it takes on Nevada at 3:30PM ET on NBC?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Notre Dame is the favorite at home in this game, as the Fighting Irish are getting odds of -28 points against Nevada. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 60.5 points. These two last met in 2009 when Notre Dame picked up a 35-0, going well under the 63-point total.

While the Irish were in a classic last Sunday night against Texas, they still came out on the losing end of a 50-47 2OT decision. They have now lost three straight as a program to some of the best teams in college football in Stanford, Ohio State and Texas. They have also hit the over in all three of those games. Notre Dame had 444 yards in the loss to Texas, but gave up 517 to the Longhorns. The positive for ND is that it has clearly established its quarterback. DeShone Kizer proved that by throwing for 215 yards and five touchdowns while rushing for 77 yards and a score. He is clearly the playmaker the Irish need leading this offense.

Bet on Nevada vs. Notre Dame

Nevada is coming off a 30-27 win over Cal-Poly, but the Wolf Pack were 21.5-point favorites. They were outgained in the win 445-363 as they allowed Cal Poly to run for 383 yards on them. The offense didn’t move the ball as consistently as one would expect and that draws some concern heading into this week’s game with Notre Dame. While the Irish were a bit of a dumpster fire on defense last week, they will likely be much better at home against a lesser opponent.

Notre Dame should have no issue moving the ball at all in this game. They should be able to run at will on Nevada. The real problem is can Nevada score much on the Irish. Notre Dame should be motivated to make a bit of a defensive statement this week after getting thrashed by Texas on national television. Look for this game to be very lopsided, but more in the 44-10 realm rather than the 52-21 side of things.
