Is No. 18 South Florida going to struggle to score points when it hits the road to face East Carolina on Saturday at Noon ET?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, South Florida is favored on the road, as the Bulls are getting odds of -23 points against the Pirates. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 78.5 points. USF has won six of its last seven against ECU and the two have hit the under in four straight meetings. Saturday’s game takes place from Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium in Greenville, North Carolina. The game airs live on CBSSN.

South Florida is off to a 4-0 start following a 43-7 win against Temple in a game that wasn’t given a total at kickoff. The Bulls are 2-1 with the under thus far, including in their one road game. USF is putting up 40.8 points per game right now, as well as 493.8 yards per game. Their rushing attack has been tough to stop. Three players have over 300 rushing yards. Darius Tice is leading the way with 373 yards and six touchdowns while quarterback Quinton Flowers has 302 yards and four scores while also passing for 774 yards and eight touchdowns. Defensively, USF is allowing just 17.3 points and 263.8 yards per game. Their run defense is allowing just 66 yards per game.

East Carolina is coming off its first win, a 41-38 win at Connecticut last week. The Pirates are now 1-3 overall while going 3-1 with the over. ECU has been an absolute mess on defense, one of the worst in the nation. The Pirates are giving up 48 points and 624.8 yards per game thus far. Offensively, ECU is putting up 23 points and 427.3 yards per game. Thomas Sirk has thrown for 827 yards and four touchdowns to lead the passing attack while Davon Grayson has 24 receptions for 394 yards and four touchdowns.

Bet on South Florida vs. East Carolina

I like what South Florida can do on offense, especially against this team, but the total is just too high. USF should be able to score at will but I don’t see ECU having a ton of success against the Bulls. ECU has hit the under in 11 of its last 15 conference games while USF has hit the under in 17 of its last 26 road games.
