TCU Horned Frogs
Quarterback Kenny Hill became the first player in the 22-year history of the Big 12 to run, throw and catch a touchdown pass in a conference game. When asked if he’s thinking about his Horned Frogs potentially playing in the playoffs in January, Hill wouldn’t allow himself to think that far ahead.
“It’s cool, but it’s a long way to go,” Hill said Tuesday in a talk with reporters. “We’ve played five games. We’ve still got another seven and hopefully eight. It’s a long way to go.”
Kansas State Wildcats
The Wildcats have a decision coming on quarterback Jesse Ertz. It was obvious in the team’s loss to Texas that he was playing at least than 100 percent. Then, following an awkward run in the second half, Ertz asked out of the game and spent the next few drives stretching on the sideline. Coach Bill Snyder wouldn’t say much about Ertz’s status for Saturday other than he, “got banged up a little bit.”

OUR PREDICTION: TCU’s defense has once again become formidable under head coach Gary Patterson. Despite facing three of the top offenses in the country in SMU, Oklahoma State and West Virginia, the Horned Frogs allowed only five touchdowns in 11 red-zone trips. They also forced eight turnovers in those three games. That’s a bad sign for a Kansas State team that could once again be without Ertz.
Granted, Ertz’s backup Alex Delton played well against Texas once Ertz left the game last week. He began hurting the Longhorns with his speed while rushing for 79 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries. The problem is that he’s not much of a passer and it’ll be difficult for Delton to generate much scoring against TCU’s stout defense.
The under is 4-1 in the Horned Frog’s last five conference games and 6-2 in their last eight road contests.
