The four-team playoff field for this year is set. Here’s a look at the odds to win the 2019 College Football Playoff Championship.
According to the latest oddsmakers, LSU enters the playoff as the favorite to win it all, listed with +130 odds. Other short odds are Clemson (+225), Ohio State (+300) and Oklahoma (+1500).
The playoff matchups are set and the first game will be the Chick-Fil-A-Peach Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 28, with top-seeded LSU taking on fourth-seeded Oklahoma at 4PM ET from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The Tigers were a perfect 13-0 and took home the SEC Championship from the same venue on Saturday. Oklahoma won the Big 12 Championship on Saturday to sneak into the playoffs from the sixth spot the week prior. Oddsmakers have LSU opening up as a 12.5-point favorite against the Sooners.
The second semifinal contest is the Playstation Fiesta Bowl on Saturday Dec. 28 with second-seeded Ohio State facing third-seeded Clemson. The two will meet at 8PM ET from State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Clemson went unbeaten this year and rolled in the ACC Championship Game last night. Ohio State also went unbeaten and won the Big Ten Championship. Oddsmakers are listing Clemson as the slight favorite in this game, giving the Tigers odds of -2 points against the Buckeyes.
The two semifinal winners will meet on Monday, Jan. 13 in the championship from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. Of the four teams, Clemson has the most appearances. The Tigers are making their fifth appearance and have won the playoff twice. Oklahoma is making its fourth appearance, but has not gotten a semifinal victory yet. Ohio State is making its third appearance and the Buckeyes have won it all once. LSU is making its first appearance in the playoff.
