Bet on Clemson vs. Alabama

Alabama is a perfect 14-0 following a 24-7 win over Washington in the Peach Bowl semifinal on New Year’s Eve. The Tide went 10-4 against the spread this season, being favored in every game it played. They also were 8-6 with the under this year. Bama brings one of the best defenses in the nation to the table tonight. Bama gives up just 11.4 points and 244.4 yards per game. Both were tops in the country this season. Alabama is talented and deep at every defensive position, putting an NFL-caliber unit on the field. They allow just 62.4 rushing yards per game as well. On offense, Alabama is averaging 39.4 points and 460.9 yards per game. Like the defense, the offense wins up front with its size and physicality. Their run game is putting up over 240 yards per game as Damien Harris has run for 1,016 yards while Bo Scarbrough has 719. Quarterback Jalen Hurts has run for 891 yards with 12 touchdowns while also throwing for 2,649 yards with 22 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Hurts has been very impressive as a freshman and he will look to get the ball to ArDarius Stewart or Calvin Ridley, his two top receivers that combined for 119 catches and 1,585 yards. Tight end O.J. Howard added 41 catches for 489 yards this season.

Clemson comes into tonight’s game at 13-1 due to a 43-42 loss to Pitt back in November, but the Tigers had the most impressive bowl wins of all when they beat Ohio State 31-0 in the Fiesta Bowl semifinal on New Year’s Eve. The Tigers were 7-7 with the over/under total this season and 7-7 against the spread, but Clemson won and covered in both games it was an underdog. Ohio State was a 1-point favorite against the Tigers in the Fiesta Bowl while Louisville was a 1-point favorite at Clemson back in October, a game the Tigers won 42-36. Like Bama, Clemson has a solid defense as well, but it isn’t quite as strong as the Tide’s. Clemson is giving up an average of 17.1 points and 306.9 yards per game. Their run defense allows 123.1 yards per game on the ground. However, Clemson held Ohio State to just 215 total yards in last week’s semifinal. Offensively, Clemson appears to have the more explosive unit, as the Tigers average 39.5 points and 503.4 yards per game. Their pass game along puts up 327.8 yards per contest as Deshaun Watson has thrown for 4,173 yards and 38 touchdowns with 17 interceptions. He has run for 586 yards as well with eight more scores. Mike Williams is his leading target with 90 receptions for 1,267 yards and 10 touchdowns. Three other Clemson players have over 600 receiving yards. Wayne Gallman is the leading rusher with 1,087 yards and 16 touchdowns.
