Can Toledo add to its current winning streak tonight when it hosts Ball State at 7PM ET on ESPN2?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Toledo is heavily favored at home, as the Rockets are getting odds of -20.5 points against Ball State. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 66 points. Toledo has won the last two meetings, but Ball State is 7-3 against the spread in its last 10 against the Rockets.
Toledo is coming off a 31-24 win at Northern Illinois last week to improve to 8-2 on the year and 5-1 in the MAC. The Rockets are also 7-3 against the spread on the season, but just 3-3 ATS in MAC play. Toledo has a tremendous offense that is averaging 39.4 points and 539.7 yards per game. They have a great passing game that is averaging 339.5 yards per game. Logan Woodside has thrown for 3,328 yards and 37 touchdowns this season with only six interceptions. Cody Thompson has caught 50 passes for 1,021 yards and nine touchdowns while Kareem Hunt has run for 1,048 yards and seven scores. Defensively, Toledo is giving up 22.9 points and 390.1 yards per contest.
Ball State is coming off a 48-41 loss to Eastern Michigan at home last week to fall to 4-6 on the season and 1-5 in the MAC. The Cardinals are 5-5 against the spread on the year but just 1-5 ATS in the MAC. The Ball State defense has really struggled, allowing 30.3 points and 469.7 yards per contest. They are giving up 313.1 yards per game through the air. Offensively, Ball State is putting up 28.5 points and 456.2 yards per contest. The Cardinals are strong with the run, averaging 226 yards per game. James Gilbert has run for 1,196 yards and 12 touchdowns this season. However, Gilbert is dealing with a leg injury that has him questionable to play. Riley Neal has thrown for 2,093 yards and 10 touchdowns with 11 interceptions. He may have to step up if Gilbert can’t go.

Toledo looks like it will be too much for Ball State. The Rockets have an offense that Ball State won’t be able to stop and the Cardinals are likely to be hindered on offense with Gilbert’s injury. Ball State isn’t going to be able to keep pace with Toledo when it comes to scoring.
