Cal, Hawaii can put up points
Will tonight’s College Football Kickoff between Hawaii and California provided plenty of offensive fireworks? Here’s our take on the total.
According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, Cal is the heavy favorite in this game, as the Golden Bears are getting odds of -19.5 points against the Warriors tonight. The over/under total is listed at 64 points. Tonight’s game is being held at ANZ Stadium in Sydney, Australia and kicks off at 10PM ET on ESPN.
Cal is coming off an 8-5 record in 2015 with a 4-5 mark in Pac-12 play. Despite being a very high-scoring team, the Golden Bears were 8-5 with the under last season. However, the Bears did hit the over in their last three victories. While the team lost Jared Goff, they did gain Davis Webb at QB. Webb spent three seasons with Texas Tech and has thrown for 5,557 yards and 46 touchdowns already in his career. He should be able to lead this offense to plenty of points.
Hawaii was 3-10 last season, going 0-8 in the Mountain West Conference. They were 7-6 with the over as the Warriors had one of the worst defensive units in the country. Hawaii was 105th in points allowed last year. However, the Hawaii offense has something to offer, especially in senior RB Paul Harris, who rushed for 1,132 yards in 2015. He should be able to help the Warriors find some scores to keep the game with Cal competitive, at least in the early going.

There is a chance Cal can score 64 points on its own tonight if the passing game is on point. Don’t look for Hawaii to get many stops on defense. The main concern is for Hawaii to score enough points for the over to hit. The Bears allowed 65 points in three non-conference games last season, so look for Hawaii to find the end zone a few times.
