College Football Predictions: Can Notre Dame, Stanford go over? 11/23/17

Notre Dame vs. Stanford Total Pick

One of the big matchups this weekend in college football has No. 20 Stanford hosting No. 9 Notre Dame at 8PM ET on Saturday. How will the total play out in this one?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Notre Dame is the slight favorite, as the Fighting Irish are getting odds of -2 points against Stanford. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 57 points. Stanford has won won three of their last four meetings in this series and the two have hit the under in six of their last seven meetings. The public is currently putting 69 percent of the wagers on Notre Dame on the road. Saturday’s game is taking place from Stanford Stadium in Stanford, California and will air live on ABC.

Notre Dame is coming off a 24-17 win at home over Navy to improve to 9-2 on the season. The Fighting Irish are 6-5 with the over, but have hit the under in three of their last four games. Notre Dame is putting up 36.7 points and 458.5 yards per game while allowing 20.4 points and 370.2 yards per contest on defense. Josh Adams has led the offense with 1,337 rushing yards and nine touchdowns while Brandon Wimbush has run for 704 yards and 14 scores while throwing for 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Stanford is coming off a 17-14 win over Cal last weekend to improve to 8-3 on the year. The Cardinal are 7-4 with the under this season, hitting it in six of their last seven games as well. Stanford is putting up 31.8 points and 400.1 yards per game this season on offense while allowing 20.7 points and 388 yards per contest. Bryce Love has run for 1,723 yards and 16 touchdowns to lead the Cardinal this year while K.J. Costello has emerged as the QB in recent weeks. He has thrown for 993 yards and five touchdowns this season. JJ Arcega-Whiteside is the leading receiver with 37 catches for 595 yards and five scores.

Bet on Notre Dame vs. Stanford

These two have the capability of putting up a big number with their rushing weapons, but both defenses should be up to the challenge of limiting those attacks. The Irish can clearly focus on stopping Love while the ND rushing attack hasn’t been quite as impactful with Wimbush dealing with an injured hand. Stanford has hit the under in six straight following a win while ND has hit the under in 7 of their last 10 games on grass. I just think this turns into a physical battle that leads to a low score.
