College Football Predictions: Georgia Tech vs. North Carolina 11/5/16

Georgia Tech vs. UNC Prediction

Can No. 21 North Carolina find a way to score enough points to put up a high total with Georgia Tech when they meet today at 12:30PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, North Carolina is favored to win this game, as the Tar Heels are getting odd of -10 points against Tech. The over/under total for the game has been set at 61.5 points. UNC has won the last two meetings in this series and the two have hit the over in five of their last six meetings.

Bet on Georgia Tech vs. North Carolina

UNC moved to 6-2 on the season with a 35-14 win over Virginia on Oct. 22. The Tar Heels are 4-1 in the ACC and 5-3 with the under. They have hit the under in four straight games as well. The Heels are putting up 32.5 points and 437.6 yards per game, including 301 passing yards per contest. Mitch Trubisky has thrown for 2,378 yards and 18 touchdowns to lead the offense while Elijah Hood and T.J. Logan have combined with 946 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. Receiver Ryan Switzer has caught 66 passes for 678 yards and three touchdowns. On defense, UNC is giving up 27 points and 396.8 yards per contest. They have struggled against the run, allowing 202.8 yards per contest.

Georgia Tech is coming off a 38-35 win over Duke on Oct. 22, moving to 5-3 on the season. The Yellow Jackets are now 2-3 in the ACC and 4-2-1 with the over. Tech is averaging 28.1 points and 386.4 yards per game on offense thanks to a run game that is putting up 247.6 yards per contest. Justin Thomas has run for 479 yards and five touchdowns while throwing for 1,024 yards and six scores. Dedrick Mills is the leading back, as he has 446 rushing yards with nine touchdowns, but he is dealing with a concussion and isn’t certain to play today. Tech still has plenty of other backs, as two others have at least 269 yards and four have at least 100 yards. Defensively, Georgia Tech is giving up 23.5 points and 376.6 yards per contest.  They somewhat struggle with the run, giving up 154.3 yards per game.

UNC has had some high-scoring shootouts, going 37-35 against FSU and 37-36 against Pitt. The Heels should definitely score points in this game, the question is can Tech move enough on them. The Heels really struggle against the run, so I suspect the Yellowjackets should be able to find their fair share of points. They have scored at least 34 points in three straight. Look for that to continue as UNC and Tech hit the over.
