Toledo vs. Miami Total Pick

Is No. 14 Miami ready for a potential shootout with Toledo when the two meet up today at 3:30PM ET? Here’s our prediction for the total.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Miami is favored at home in this game, as the Hurricanes are getting odds of -13.5 points against the Rockets. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 61 points. Today’s game will take place from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida and will air live on the ACC Network.

Toledo is off to a 3-0 start to the year thanks to wins over Elon, Nevada and Tulsa. The Rockets 2-1 with the over so far, hitting the under in their lone road trip. Toledo comes in with a tough offense, averaging 46 points and 552.7 yards per game right now. Logan Woodside has thrown for 1,004 yards and eight touchdowns to lead the unit while Terry Swanson and Art Thompkins have combined for 502 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Cody Thompson is the leading receiver with 22 catches for 391 yards and four touchdowns. On defense, Toledo is giving up 29.3 points and 369.7 yards per game.

Miami has played in just one game this season due to Hurricane Irma. That game was on Sept. 2 and was a 41-13 win over Bethune-Cookman, which went under the 61-point total. The win was an average opener, as Miami looked rusty in the beginning and came on late. The Canes posted 555 total yards in the victory while allowing 350 to the Wildcats. Mark Walton led the offense with 148 rushing yards and two touchdowns while Travis Homer had 108 yards on the ground. Malik Rosier threw for 217 yards and three touchdowns as well.

Bet on Toledo vs. Miami

One has to expect Miami to look a little rusty in this game. While the Hurricanes could start fast off the emotion of playing once again after the difficulties of the storm, their execution is likely to suffer during the game as the Canes haven’t had live reps against an opponent in three weeks. Toledo will be able to take advantage of that, but Miami’s athleticism should also keep it from falling too far behind the Rockets. While I expect this game to be close, I think both offenses will find difficulty during the game and that should keep the scoring total below 61.
