College Football Predictions: Kent State vs. Bowling Green 11/15/16

Kent St. vs. Bowling Green Pick

Which struggling MAC school will pick up a needed win on Tuesday night when Bowling Green hosts Kent State at 7PM ET.

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Kent State is favored on the road, as the Golden Flashes are getting odds of -2.5 points against Bowling Green. The over/under total for the game is listed at 54 points. Bowling Green has won three straight meetings with Kent State, but the Flashes are 5-2 against the spread in the last seven in this series.

Bet on Kent State vs. Bowling Green

Kent State is coming off a 37-21 loss to Western Michigan to fall to 3-7 on the season and 2-4 in the MAC. The Golden Flashes are 6-4 against the spread, but have covered in two straight. Kent State doesn’t have much of an offense, posting just 21.9 points and 306.3 yards per game. Their run game is still sound, as Nick Holley has run for 916 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also has thrown for 743 yards and three scores. Defensively, Kent State is pretty good, allowing just 27.1 points and 356.8 yards per game. They are solid against the pass, holding opponents to 192.6 yards per game.

Bowling Green snapped a 7-game losing streak last week with a 38-28 win at Akron. The Falcons are now 2-8 on the season and 1-5 in the MAC. BG is 3-7 against the spread, but the Falcons are 3-2 ATS in their last five games. The issue for the Falcons is defense, as they are giving up 43.4 points and 491.6 yards per game, including 221.5 rushing yards per contest. On offense, Bowling Green is averaging 22.9 points and 379.4 yards per contest. James Morgan has thrown for 1,759 yards and 14 touchdowns, but also has 13 interceptions. Scott Miller is the leading receiver with 872 yards and 10 scores. Fred Coppet has added 765 rushing yards and five scores.

Kent State isn’t used to being favored. The Golden Flashes are a good defense and their offense should see a spike in production due to playing the Falcons. Kent State should be able to control the pace of play with their run game and their defense. I like Kent State to cover on the road.
