Notre Dame played in arguably the best game of Week 1, losing 50-47 at Texas in double OT. The game was a classic and thoroughly entertaining, but that doesn’t matter much to the Irish, who came out on the losing end. The game featured close to 1,000 yards of offense, with the Irish amassing 444 yards and Texas finishing with 517. ND came in planning to play two quarterbacks, but DeShone Kizer emerged as the clear starter after throwing for 215 yards and five touchdowns while rushing for 77 yards and a score. Tarean Folston rushed for 88 yards on 18 carries in his first game back from injury. The issue for the Irish in the loss was the defense, which allowed 237 rushing yards and was lit up by a freshman quarterback.

Bet on Nevada vs. Notre Dame

Nevada got all it could handle in a 30-27 OT win over Cal Poly last weekend. The Wolf Pack were outgained 445-363 in the win and allowed 383 rushing yards by the Mustangs. While James Butler rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns in the win, not much else worked well for Nevada. Tyler Stewart threw for 189 yards and two scores, but averaged just 8.2 yards per completion.

Notre Dame is going to be out to send a message this week. The Irish will be upset by being a stepping stone for Texas’ re-introduction into the top 25. Brian Kelly is certain to make his team angry and ready to rip apart the Wolf Pack on Saturday. Nevada couldn’t stop Cal Poly on the ground, so there is no way they are stopping the Irish. Kizer should put up some big stats and Folston should average around 7 yards per carry as the Irish roll.
