The over/under total for the game is listed at 51 points. Notre Dame has won five straight meetings with Boston College, but the Eagles have covered in five of the last six meetings. Boston College is also off to a 1-1 start following a 34-10 loss at home to Wake Forest last week. The Eagles 0-2 against the spread, failing to cover in a 23-20 win over Northern Illinois in the season opener. BC has really looked shaky on offense, averaging just 16.5 points and 322 yards per game. Freshman Anthony Brown has thrown for 310 yards and three touchdowns this season, but also has four interceptions. Thadd Smith is the leading rusher with 101 yards on 11 carries. Defensively, BC is allowing 27 points and 338 yards per game. They have struggled against the run though, giving up 161 yards per game on the ground.
Notre Dame fell to 1-1 on the season with a 20-19 loss to Georgia at home last weekend. The Irish are also 1-1 against the spread, as they were a 5.5-point favorite against the Bulldogs. ND is putting up 34 points and 436 yards per game this season thanks to their run game, which is averaging 238.5 yards per game. Josh Adams has run for 214 yards and two touchdowns through two games for the Irish while Dexter Williams has 124 yards on the ground. Brandon Wimbush has thrown for 395 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 107 yards and two scores. Defensively, Notre Dame is giving up 18 points and 328 yards per game.
Bet on Notre Dame vs. Boston College
This could be an ugly game, as both teams will have their strength vs. their strength and their weakness vs. their weakness. I am not sure BC can move the ball on anyone right now, so Notre Dame shouldn’t have trouble stopping them. The key is for the Irish to be able to move on a very tough Boston College defense. That has been a problem in the past. ND has been held to 21 points or less in six of their last seven against the Eagles. While I can see the Irish pitching a shutout, crazy things happen during the game. So, I see BC doing enough on offense to earn a cover at home.
