Virginia vs. Miami Total Prediction

Will Saturday’s ACC matchup between Virginia and undefeated Miami turn into a defensive struggle at 12:00 p.m. ET? Or will bettors still be able to cash the over?

Current Point Spread & Over/Under Total

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the over/under currently sits at 50.5 points after hitting the board at that same number. Miami, meanwhile, opened as an 18-point home favorite but the line was bet up to 19 at the majority of online sportsbooks.

Who is the Public Backing?

As of Wednesday morning, 60% of betting tickets are on the Hurricanes minus the points to cover the spread.

Key Betting Trends

The underdog has cashed in six of the last seven meetings between these two teams while the road squad is 5-1 against the number in the last six meetings. The Cavaliers are also 5-1 against the spread in their last six games at Miami and 5-2 at the betting window in their last seven games overall versus the Hurricanes.

OUR PREDICTION: The under is 13-5-1 in the Cavaliers’ last 19 road games, is 21-9-1 in their last 31 conference games, and is 7-2 in their last nine games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game. On the other side, the under is a perfect 7-0 in Miami’s last seven games overall, is 4-0 in its last four home games, and is 4-1 in the Hurricanes’ last five games in November.

I do worry somewhat that Miami will come down off its Notre Dame high and fall flat on Saturday versus Virginia. But if things play itself out the way it should, then the Hurricanes should shut down a Virginia offense that is less-talented than the Fighting Irish. And given Miami’s problems with consistency on offense this year, I’ll take the under.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL WEEK 12 PICK: VIRGINIA/MIAMI UNDER 50.5
