College Football Predictions: Washington vs. Colorado 9/21/17

Washington vs. Colorado Pick

Is No. 7 Washington giving up too many points on the road when it takes on Colorado Saturday night at 10PM ET in a Pac-12 clash?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Washington is the clear favorite on the road, as the Huskies are getting odds of -11.5 points against the Buffaloes. The over/under total for the game is listed at 50 points. Washington has won and covered the spread in seven straight meetings with the Buffaloes. Saturday’s game will take place from Folsom Field in Boulder, Colorado and air live on FS1.

Washington has looked strong to start the year, opening 3-0 with wins over Rutgers, Montana and Fresno State. The Huskies are 1-2 against the spread despite holding opponents to just 12.3 points and 261.7 yards per game. Offensively, the Huskies are putting up 47 points and 431.3 yards per game. Part of the reason for the high scoring average is Dante Pettis, who has returned three of the six punts he has fielded for touchdowns. He also has 12 receptions for 209 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Jake Browning has thrown for 798 yards and eight touchdowns while Myles Gaskin is adding 153 rushing yards and three scores.

Colorado is also a perfect 3-0 on the season with wins over Colorado State, Texas State and Northern Colorado. The Buffaloes are 1-2 against the spread as well. Like Washington, Colorado has impressive defensive numbers. The Buffaloes are holding opponents to just 9 points and 317.7 yards per game this season. However, the differences are in the offenses. Colorado is putting up just 31.7 points per game this year to go with 448 yards per contest. Leading the offense is Phillip Lindsay, who has 378 rushing yards with three touchdowns. Steven Montez has 858 passing yards with six touchdowns and three interceptions.

Bet on Washington vs. Colorado

Washington has dominated this series, but I think that is what is leading to such a large spread on the road. Washington has had a big boost from what Pettis does on punt returns, but if teams avoid him, it takes a major piece away. Browning is still a great quarterback, but he faces a solid defense this week in Colorado. I think the Buffaloes can do enough at home to make this game competitive. The Colorado offense also can put together long possession behind the efforts of Lindsay. I like the Buffaloes with the points at home.
