College Football Season Win Total Prediction – Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State Win Total Pick

After a failed attempt at repeating as national champions, can the Ohio State Buckeyes get back into the title picture this season?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Irish are listed with an over/under of 9.5 wins for the 2016 regular season. The over is listed with a line of -185, while the under has a line of +150. Notre Dame is also listed with odds of 15/2 odds to win the College Football Playoffs and 3/2 odds to win the Big Ten.

Urban Meyer enters his fifth season as head coach of the Buckeyes. He has won at least 12 games in his first four seasons, including a 12-1 mark last season. The lone loss came at home to Michigan State, which caused Ohio State to lose out on the Big Ten race and a chance at the playoffs.

Last season, OSU had some QB questions because of so much talent returning at the position. This year, it’s all about J.T. Barrett. He finished up as the starter last season and ended up with 992 passing yards and 11 TDs while rushing for 682 yards and 11 scores as well. Barrett threw for 2,834 yards and 34 TDs in 2014 while rushing for 938 yards and 11 scores. The big question for Ohio State will be about replacing stud RB Ezekiel Elliott, who rushed for 1,821 yards and 23 scores last year. Barrett could fill more of the running shoes, but the team will certainly need to establish a new back. The Buckeyes also lose four of their top five receivers from 2015. Ohio State lost plenty on defense as well, but still has some solid returning starters in end Tyquan Lewis, LB Raekown McMillan and CB Gaeron Conley.

The Buckeyes have some tough games this year, going to Oklahoma on Sept. 17, Wisconsin on Oct. 15 and Michigan State on Nov. 19. They also have seven home games, but those all seem winnable. They finish against Michigan on Nov. 26, but the Wolverines have plenty of questions without the track record of success that Meyer has had. Despite the heavy losses on offense, Ohio State has plenty of unknown talent through solid recruiting since Meyer arrived. Look for the Buckeyes to be back to full form early in the year. Winning 10 games shouldn’t be a problem.
