College Football Week 1 Odds – Ole Miss vs. Florida State 9/5/16

Ole Miss vs. FSU Odds

The opening weekend of the College Football Season concludes tonight with perhaps its best matchup when No. 4 Florida State meets No. 11 Ole Miss at 8PM ET on ESPN.

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Florida State is favored tonight, as the Seminoles are getting odds of -6 points against the Rebels. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 59 points. This game will be played from Camping World Stadium in Orlando, FL. These two have no recent meetings to look back on.

Bet on Ole Miss vs. Florida State

Florida State comes into 2016 with a lot of optimism following a 10-2 season in 2015. Though the Seminoles face a competitive schedule this season, they feel they have the talent to win the improving ACC. FSU has one of the top players in the nation returning in RB Dalvin Cook. He rushed for 1,691 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2015 and will help new starting QB Deondre Francois to settle into the role. Francois has plenty of weapons to work with as FSU returns its top three receivers from a year ago. The trio combined for 174 receptions for 2,336 yards and 16 touchdowns. FSU also had a strong defense in 2016, holding opponents to just 15.8 points per game. It’s no surprise that the Seminoles were 8-5 against the spread in 2015. However, they do come into this contest just 3-8 ATS in their last 11 non-conference games.

Ole Miss went 10-3 in the 2015 season but had a tough offseason with accusations of illegal payments to former players. Despite that, Ole Miss still has some talent on the field in 2016. Chad Kelly returns as the starting quarterback after throwing for 4,042 yards and 31 touchdowns in 2015. He also rushed for 500 yards and 10 scores. He will need to find a new favorite receiver, with Laquon Treadwell moving to the NFL, but there are some viable options returning in Quincy Adeboyejo and Damore’ea Stringfellow. Defensively, Ole Miss had talent on the field in 2015, but still gave up 22.8 points and 388 yards per game. The unit lost stud lineman Robert Nkemdiche to the NFL, so they face a major challenge tonight against a stacked FSU offense. Still, like FSU, Ole Miss was 8-5 against the spread in 2015.
