Texas A&M and UCLA will have one of the featured meetings during the opening weekend of college football. Here’s a look at the early odds.

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, UCLA is listed as the early favorite in this game. The Bruins are getting odds of -2.5 points against the Aggies. The over/under total has yet to be listed. These two will meet from the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Kickoff time is set for 6:30PM ET.

UCLA is coming off a rough 2016 season where it went just 4-8 overall and 2-7 in the Pac-12. It was the worst season the Bruins have had in the five years under the leadership of Jim Mora Jr. UCLA was also just 4-8 against the spread last season. They had an offense that really struggled, ranking 96th nationally in scoring at 24.9 points per game. The run game was a major problem, as Soso Jamabo was the leading rusher with just 321 yards. Josh Rosen threw for 1,915 yards and 10 touchdowns in limited action and is now set to enter his junior year. Despite the offensive struggles, UCLA’s defense wasn’t too bad, allowing just 27.5 points and 382 yards per game in 2016.

Texas A&M is coming off an 8-5 record in 2016 in which it was only 4-9 against the spread and 4-4 in SEC play. It was the Aggies’ third straight season of going 8-5. A&M had a tremendous offense that averaged 34.8 points and 467 yards per game, both of which ranked in the top-35 in the nation. Trevor Knight threw for 2,432 yards and 19 touchdowns while rushing for 614 yards and 10 scores last season, but he is now gone. Jake Hubenak saw some time in 2016 and threw for 884 yards and six scores. He enters his senior year in 2017. The Aggies have a top back in Trayveon Williams, who rushed for 1,057 yards and eight scores. They will also have a top-level receiver in Christian Kirk, who caught 83 passes for 928 yards and nine touchdowns. Defensively, the Aggies struggled in 2016, allowing 441.8 yards per game.

Oddsmakers see UCLA as a national championship longshot next season. The Bruins are listed with 60/1 odds to win the title while Texas A&M has 110/1 odds. The current favorite is Alabama, which has 9/2 odds, while Ohio State has 13/2 odds and Florida State and USC each have 15/2 odds.
