Louisville went 8-5 last season despite starting 0-3 in non-conference play. The Cardinals are hoping for an easier time this year, starting with Charlotte. The team is to be led by Lamar Jackson, a dual-threat QB that threw for 1,840 yards and 12 scores while rushing for 960 yards and 11 touchdowns in split action in 2015. Now, as the clear-cut leader, he should really thrive. He also has back Brandon Radcliff, last year’s leading rusher as a back with 634 yards. One wouldn’t expect Louisville to be a defensive force on paper, but the Cardinals ranked 14th nationally in 2015, allowing just 296 yards per game.
Bet on Charlotte vs. Louisville
Charlotte is coming off a 2-10 2015 season. It lost four times by at least 30 points in 2015. The 49ers didn’t have much consistency on offense, as three QBs all split time and combined for 12 touchdowns with 23 interceptions. One thing Charlotte does have is Kalif Phillips in the backfield. He rushed for 961 yards and five touchdowns a year ago and will be the leader of this team. It should come as no surprise that Charlotte also struggled on defense, allowing 417 yards and 36.3 points per game a year ago.

It’s tough to expect a team to win by 40, but tonight is one of those times. The Cardinals have an offense that can put up a lot of points and a defense that should have no trouble shutting down Charlotte. The Cardinals can force the 49ers into short, quick possessions and will likely look for big plays on offense. Scoring at least 40 shouldn’t be a problem. The big key will be for the defense to keep Charlotte under 10 points.
