Toledo vs. Akron Prediction
Toledo and Akron meet up tonight in MAC play. The Rockets area big favorite, but can they cover against the Zips at 7:30PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Toledo is favored on the road, as the Rockets are getting odds of -10 points against the Zips. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 72 points. Toledo has won seven of the last nine meetings with Akron, but the Zips have covered the spread in three straight against the Rockets.
Toledo is coming off a 31-26 loss against Ohio at home last week to fall to 6-2 on the season and 3-1 in the MAC. The Rockets are now 5-3 against the spread on the season but just 1-3 ATS in conference play. Toledo has a tremendous offense, as the Rockets are averaging 39.4 points and 544.4 yards per game. They are putting up 347.1 passing yards per contest. Logan Woodside has thrown for 2,715 yards and 31 touchdowns to lead this offense while Cody Thompson has caught 42 passes for 917 yards and nine scores. Kareem Hunt is the leading rusher with 790 yards and five touchdowns. The Toledo defense is giving up 23.5 points and 377 yards per game on the season.
Akron is coming off a 42-10 loss at Buffalo last week to fall to 5-4 on the season and 3-2 in the MAC. The Zips are just 3-6 against the spread this season and 2-3 ATS in MAC play. The Akron defense is giving up 34.2 points and 483.1 yards per game, including 228.7 rushing yards per contest. The offense is putting up 31.2 points and 400.6 yards per contest. Thomas Woodson has thrown for 1,763 yards and 16 touchdowns to lead the offense while Van Edwards Jr. and Manny Morgan have combined for 748 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Toledo is coming off a bad loss last week and the Rockets should rebound. Following their last at BYU, the Rockets came back with a 15-point win over a decent Eastern Michigan team. Akron has been struggling lately, getting blasted by Western Michigan and losing by 21 to a bad Buffalo team. The Zips won’t be able to stop Toledo and I don’t see them being able to keep pace on offense.
