College Football Week 11 Predictions: Army vs. Notre Dame 11/12/16

Army vs. Notre Dame Prediction

Notre Dame makes another appearance at a rare venue today when it faces Army at 3:30PM ET from the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX. Can the Irish get a win in Texas?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Notre Dame is favored in this game, as the Fighting Irish are getting odds of -14 points against Army. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 52.5 points. Notre Dame has won its last five meetings with Army, going 3-2 against the spread in those games.

Bet on Army vs. Notre Dame

Notre Dame is coming off a meeting with Navy in Jacksonville in which it lost 28-27 to fall to 3-6 on the year. The Irish are also just 3-6 against the spread, covering the spread in only the victories. The Irish had shown improved defense in recent weeks, holding opponents to 28 points or less in four straight games. They are now giving up 27.7 points and 385.9 yards per game on defense. The offense is producing 29.9 points and 408.7 yards per game. DeShone Kizer continues to be the offensive leader with 2,261 passing yards and 19 touchdowns while rushing for 368 yards and seven scores. Equanimeous St. Brown is the leading receiver with 42 receptions for 745 yards and eight touchdowns.

Army is coming off a 31-12 loss to Air Force at home to fall to 5-4 on the season and 5-4 against the spread. The Knights have also covered in all of their victories, but they are just 2-4 in their last six games. Army is averaging 29.3 points and 410.8 yards per game on offense, but that is largely due to a few big scoring games during the year. The Knights rely heavily on their run game, which is putting up 320.1 yards per game. Andy Davidson is the leading rusher with 707 yards and seven touchdowns while Ahmad Bradshaw has run for 602 yards and passed for 565 yards. Defensively, Army is giving up just 18.1 points and 286.4 yards per game.

I don’t care for Notre Dame this season and I certainly don’t feel good about the Irish giving up 14 points to anyone. They have won just one game in the last month and that was by 3 points. Army hasn’t been great either, but they have played competitively in most of their games. This is a big setting for the Knights as well, playing on national television on a neutral field. Look for them to play up this game and keep it interesting.
