According to oddsmakers from online sports book Mybookie.ag, the Wildcats opened as 13-point home favorites but the line has been bet up to 15. As for the total, it opened at 49 and that’s where the number currently sits.
The Records
Purdue enters play with a 2-7 record and is just 4-5 against the spread this season after failing to cover as a home underdog last Saturday versus Illinois. On the other side, Northwestern is 7-2 on the year and 6-3 against the spread after coving at home in a come-from-behind victory last weekend versus PSU.
The Pick
Purdue burned backers last week as a slight home underdog versus Illinois but bettors shouldn’t be scared to take the Boilermakers as a double-digit road dog today. In early October, Purdue was a 23-point road dog versus Michigan State and lost by three points to the Spartans. In mid-October, they were 21.5-point road dogs to Wisconsin and lost by 17. Northwestern is flying high after beating Penn State and Purdue will have all sorts of issues moving the ball on the Wildcats’ underrated defense. But 16 points is a lot to lay on a Northwestern team that has been so inconsistent this year on offense. This is also a revenge spot for Purdue, which was blown out 38-14 last year by Northwestern.
