College Football Week 12 Predictions: Florida State vs. Syracuse 11/19/16

Florida St. vs. Syracuse Prediction

Should No. 17 Florida State have any difficulty when it goes on the road to face Syracuse today at 3:30PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Florida State is favored on the road, as the Seminoles are getting odds of -21 points against the Orange. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 63.5 points. Florida State has won the last seven meetings with Syracuse and the Seminoles are 5-2 against the spread in those seven games.

Bet on Florida State vs. Syracuse

Florida State is now 7-3 on the season following a 45-7 win over Boston College last week. The Seminoles are 4-3 in the ACC and 5-4-1 against the spread this season. FSU is averaging 34.7 points and 465.1 yards per game on offense. The Seminoles rely heavilh on their run game and back Dalvin Cook, who has run for 1,242 yards and 13 touchdowns. He is among the leading rushers in the country right now. Quarterback Deondre Francois has thrown for 2,675 yards and 15 touchdowns as well to give them a respectable pass option if Cook is struggling. Defensively, FSU is giving up 26.6 points and 384.6 yards per game. They aren’t overly strong in either area, but also have faced some pretty strong offensive teams throughout the season.

Syracuse is coming off a 35-20 loss to N.C. State last week. The Orange are now 4-6 on the season and 2-4 in the ACC. Cuse is 4-6 against the spread this season but just 2-4 ATS in their last six games. The Syracuse defense is giving up 34.2 points and 471.5 yards per game this season, including nearly 200 rushing yards per game. On offense, Syracuse is putting up just 23.3 points per game despite averaging 438.9 yards per contest. The Orange will probably be without QB Eric Dungey today, as he is battling a concussion. He has thrown for 2,679 yards and 15 touchdowns this year and has a great connection with receiver Amba Etta-Tawo, who has caught 79 passes for 1,246 yards and eight touchdowns.

Florida State has the ability to look like the championship team it was a few years ago, as it has an offense that can put up big points and a defense that has shown flashes of being able to shut down opponents. In their last four wins, they have held opponents to 20 points or less. Cook should be able to run right past the Syracuse defense while the Orange will struggle without Dungey under center.
