College Football Week 12 Predictions: Maryland vs. Nebraska 11/19/16

Maryland vs. Nebraska Prediction

Can No. 18 Nebraska handle the offensive load today when it plays host to a banged-up Maryland team at Noon ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Nebraska is favored at home, as the Cornhuskers are getting odds of -13.5 points against Maryland. The total for the game has still is listed at 50 points.

Bet on Maryland vs. Nebraska

Nebraska is 8-2 on the season and 5-2 in the Big Ten following a 24-17 win over Minnesota last week. The Cornhuskers are 8-2 with the under this year as well thanks to a defense that has been reminiscent of the old days of Cornhusker football. Nebraska is allowing just 22.6 points and 359.2 yards per contest on defense this season as they have hit the under in all but one Big Ten game this year. On offense, Nebraska is averaging 28.3 points and 401.5 yards per game. Terrell Newby has run for 727 yards and four touchdowns to lead the ground attack while Tommy Armstrong Jr. has 499 yards rushing and eight touchdowns. He also has thrown for 2,055 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Maryland is coming off a 62-3 loss at home to Ohio State. The Terrapins have scored just 6 points total in their last two games. They are now 5-5 overall and 2-5 in the Big Ten hitting the under in six of the 10 games. The Terps are giving up 30.7 points and 445.3 yards per contest this season, including 228.7 rushing yards per game. On offense, Maryland is averaging 26.7 points and 393.3 yards per contest. They are led by a run game of Ty Johnson, who has put up 656 yards and four touchdowns this season. However, he has a shoulder injury that has left him as a game-time decision. Lorenzo Harrison, his backup that has run for 633 yards and five touchdowns is suspended for a violation of the school’s code of conduct. Perry Hills is the team’s QB with 1,139 yards and 10 touchdowns, but he is also dealing with a shoulder injury that has him questionable to play today.

The scoring is going to be left up to Nebraska, as Maryland is really going to struggle with some many injuries and key players unable to contribute. While I think Nebraska can put up a big number, I don’t think they can carry nearly 80 percent of a 50-point total. I really believe the Terrapins could go under 10 points again and don’t think Nebraska will put up more than 40.
