College Football Week 12 Predictions: Memphis vs. Cincinnati 11/18/16

Memphis vs. Cincinnati Prediction

Can Memphis go on the road and cover as a favorite when it takes on Cincinnati in AAC action on Friday night at 8PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Memphis is favored on the road, as the Tigers are getting odds of -7.5 points against the Bearcats. The over/under total for the game has been set at 58 points. Memphis has won two straight over Cincinnati, but the Bearcats are 7-1 against the spread in the last eight in this series.

Bet on Memphis vs. Cincinnati

Memphis is favored despite recent struggles. The Tigers are coming off a 49-42 loss to USF last week at home to fall to 6-4 on the year and 3-3 in the AAC. Memphis has lost three of its last four games and is just 1-6 against the spread in its last seven. For the season, Memphis is only 3-7 ATS. The Tigers put up good offensive numbers, averaging 39.2 points and 465.1 yards per game, but the defense is allowing 444.4 yards per contest, including 216.5 rushing yards per game. Riley Ferguson has thrown for 2,896 yards and 24 touchdowns to lead this offense. Anthony Miller has been his main target with 67 catches for 1,077 yards and eight touchdowns, while Doroland Dorceus is the leading rusher with 635 yards and six touchdowns.

Cincinnati is coming off a 24-3 loss at Central Florida last week to fall to 4-6 on the season and 1-5 in the AAC. The Bearcats have lost three straight and they are just 2-8 against the spread this season. The offense has been abysmal lately, as they have been held to 3 points in their last two games and have been held to 20 points or less in six games this season. For the year, Cincy is averaging just 18.8 points and 371.1 yards per game on offense. The Bearcats have had to use three different QBs throughout the year and split time between two last week. Hayden Moore is the leading passer on the team with 1,229 yards and seven touchdowns, but the group has 14 touchdowns with 13 interceptions. The leading rusher is Tion Green, who has 635 yards and just two scores. Defensively, Cincinnati is giving up 24.9 points and 413.2 yards per contest. They are allowing 180 rushing yards per game.

Neither team has been too reliable against the spread this year, but Cincinnati seems to be mailing it in right now. The Bearcats have lost their last 3 by at least 17 and their six losses this year have all been by double figures. Memphis has lost three of its last four, but those were against respectable teams and they remained competitive. The Tigers have been able to beat may of the teams they should I expect they will tonight.
