College Football Week 2 Picks: Central Florida vs. Michigan 9/10/16

UCF vs. Michigan Pick

Will No. 5 Michigan put up another high-scoring performance on Saturday when it takes on Central Florida in Ann Arbor at Noon ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Michigan is the clear favorite in this game, as the Wolverines are getting odds of -35.5 points against the Golden Knights. The over/under total for the game has been set at 54.5 points. These two have no recent meetings to consider.

Bet on UCF vs Michigan

Despite being a program based on hard-nosed football, Michigan has been a team that has been hitting the over often. With last week’s 63-3 win over Hawaii, the Wolverines have now hit the over in nine straight games. In last week’s win they amassed 512 yards of offense, including 306 rushing yards. The team had some questions coming into the game, but most were answered. Wilton Speight threw for 145 yards and three touchdowns and looked comfortable aside from an opening interception. They also ran the ball very steady, with Chris Evans rushing for 112 yards on just eight carries.

Central Florida is coming off a 38-0 win over South Carolina State last week. The Knights hit the under in the contest, which they have done in their last three games. UCF amassed 466 total yards of offense in the win thanks to a balance of 201 rushing yards and 265 passing yards. Justin Holman threw for 193 yards and two touchdowns to lead the way while a handful of players contributed to the steady run game.

When looking at this total, it seems pretty clear that Michigan is going to do its part on offense. The Wolverines should be able to move the ball and score regularly. Central Florida showed some offensive promise last week, but the Knights now face a much better defense. Can they find a way to score consistently enough to hit the over? They probably have to get around 10-17 points, as Michigan should be able to get to the 35-45-point range. Since the total is only at 54.5, I expect the over to hit. Michigan may even get it on its own.
