Will Tulsa cause any problems for No. 4 Ohio State when the two meet today at 3:30PM ET on ABC?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Ohio State is the clear favorite in this game, as the Buckeyes are getting odds of -28.5 points against the Golden Hurricanes. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 74 points. These two have no recent meetings.
Ohio State showed it isn’t afraid to pile on if the shoe fits when it beat Bowling Green 77-10 last week. The Falcons were the defending MAC champs and the Buckeyes made them look like a club team. Ohio State amassed 776 yards of offense in the win and held BG to just 244 yards in the process, not allowing the Falcons to score an offensive touchdown. J.T. Barrett started where he left off last season by throwing for 349 yards and six touchdowns while rushing for another score. Mike Weber looked good in the backfield by rushing for 136 yards.
Tulsa handled San Jose State with some ease in a 45-10 victory last weekend. The Golden Hurricanes finished with 512 total yards and 305 rushing yards while holding the Spartans to 287 total yards. D’Angelo Brewer led the rushing attack with 164 yards and three touchdowns while Dan Evans threw for 198 yards and a score. Tulsa has had some past experience playing BCS teams tough, covering a 31.5-point spread against Oklahoma last year and a 14-point spread against Virginia Tech in last year’s bowl game.

I really think Ohio State may be the best team in the country. Despite all the starters lost, they still thrashed a Bowling Green team that has been very good in the MAC. Tulsa may find more success moving the ball against Ohio State than BG did, but I don’t think it will be by much. This Ohio State defense is incredibly strong, especially at home. On offense, Tulsa isn’t going to be able to stop Barrett and company. Though 28.5 points is a lot, look for Ohio State to cover it.
