Horned Frogs welcome Hogs to Fort Worth
There aren’t scores of high-profile matchups decorating the Week 2 schedule around college football. Tonight’s tussle in Fort Worth, Texas, though, is an exception.
No. 15 TCU hosts Arkansas at 6:30 p.m. ET in a Big 12-SEC rumble. Several hours in advance of kickoff, oddsmakers at online sports book BetDSI list Gary Patterson’s squad as a 10.5-point favorite. The over/under is 57.

The Horned Frogs ultimately pulled out a 59-41 triumph against South Dakota State last Saturday. A rocky first half, however, had the head coach fired up after the game. Patterson knows full well that a complete effort will be required to upend the Razorbacks, who lead the all-time series 42-24-2.
Of course, Bret Bielema’s program encountered its own set of difficulties a week ago. Quarterback Austin Allen led a fourth-quarter comeback to secure a one-point win over Louisiana Tech – in Fayetteville. On the heels of that near disaster, though, expect the Hogs to commit to the run early and attempt to gash the iffy interior of TCU’s D-line.

For the Horned Frogs, the recipe remains simple: Let Kenny Hill do his thing at the controls. The Texas A&M transfer went ballistic in his debut at Amon G. Carter Stadium, passing for 439 yards and accounting for five touchdowns. He won’t hesitate to target Arkansas’ secondary, so that group needs a demonstrably better effort than what we witnessed vs. the Bulldogs.
While end Deatrich Wise and tackle Jeremiah Ledbetter should do their damndest to disrupt TCU’s desire to get vertical, there’s only so much an opponent can do in this environment. Sooner or later, we fear that the Razorbacks’ pass defense, which ranked 103rd nationally last season, will inevitably break down. In any event, though, prepare for a deluge of scores.
