Tulsa vs. Ohio State Prediction
After a massive blowout in Week 1, can No. 4 Ohio State put on a scoring showcase again when it hosts Tulsa on Saturday at 3:30 PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Ohio State is the clear favorite in this game, as the Buckeyes are getting odds of -29 points against the Golden Hurricanes. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 72.5 points. These two have no recent meetings.
Ohio State showed plenty of offensive firepower in its opener, beating Bowling Green 77-10 last Saturday. The Buckeyes put up 776 total yards on offense while allowing just 244 yards to the Falcons. J.T. Barrett hasn’t missed a beat, as he threw for 349 yards and six touchdowns while Mike Weber and Curtis Samuel combined for over 200 rushing yards. Samuel also caught nine passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Ohio State didn’t allow a TD, as Bowling Green’s lone score came on a defensive touchdown.
Tulsa had an impressive debut last week as well, posting a 45-10 victory over San Jose State. The Golden Hurricanes had 512 yards of offense in the win while holding the Spartans to 287 total yards and forcing three turnovers. Tulsa ran the ball at will in the victory, rushing for 305 yards as a team. D’Angelo Brewer had 164 yards on 22 carries with three touchdowns. Quarterback Dane Evans added 198 passing yards with one touchdown.

Tulsa should feel good about what it did in its opener, and the Golden Hurricanes are a good mid-major football team, but Ohio State just beat the defending MAC champions 77-10. It shouldn’t be much different against Tulsa. However, that 77-point performance has created a lofty total for this game. Perhaps it is one that can’t be hit. Typically, Ohio State is a team that plays with the under. They have hit the under in 10 of their last 12 after a win and in 6 of their last 7 after a win of 20 points or more. I have no doubt the Buckeyes will score plenty, but I think their defense will build off last week and shut down Tulsa, especially at home.
